RecBLOG: PEN America

Today we'd like to highlight the PEN America blog, which brings readers a variety of literature-related posts and news about the PEN American Center, an organization that has been promoting freedom of speech among international writers for almost a century.

Some of their posts focus specifically on translated literature, including a recent post about Aurora Venturini's Las primas, to be translated from Spanish to English as "The Cousins" by Roy Kesey, one of the recipients of the 2015 PEN/Heim Translation Fund Grant.

This blog also brings audio clips of authors reading other authors, such as the case of Alex Dimitrov reading Allen Ginsberg in celebration of Banned Books Week, as well as interesting stories about freedom of information―or lack thereof―, such as reports on textbooks that are being used in the new school year and suppress historical information about U.S. history, for example.
