Today is World Book Day, created by UNESCO to pay tribute to Miguel de Cervantes, who died April 23, 1616. On this very same day in 1564, William Shakespeare was born. Despite controversies on calendar use back then, it is believed that he also died on his 52nd birthday on April 23, 1616.
With all these coincidences, this holiday was created back in 1995 in memory of two of the greatest writers in the world. On this very same day, we also celebrate Copyright Day to raise awareness of the rights held by the creators of an original work. Read a great article about it here.
