The shortlist for the 2013 Best Translated Book Award - Fiction was announced a few days ago and we're pretty excited about the variety of styles, subjects, and languages represented by the ten nominees, including "A Breath of Life: Pulsations," the Portuguese-to-English version of Clarice Lispector's Um sopro de vida by Johnny Lorenz.
This announcement came about a week after the IMPAC Dublin shortlist was made public, highlighting titles written in or translated into English with 5 out of 10 books in translation.
The Three Percent website has compiled some interesting posts on the merits of each title running for the Best Translated Book Award. The winner, to be announced May 3rd, will receive a $5,000 cash prize, courtesy of Amazon.
