I unfortunately fell short of my goal to read 50 books in 2012, like I had done in 2011... When you spend most of the year pregnant, you get sleepy and don't have a chance to read a page when you go to bed before you pass out. Besides, in 2011 I went to the gym a lot more often and took advantage of the Text-to-Speech feature on my Kindle, which helped me read while on the go. Not so much this time around with a huge belly...
Well, I'm actually glad that at least I got to read the 3 books about translation that I had on my list. I also read 5 classics (out of 8), 2 non-fiction (out of 5, both biographies), 8 thrillers (out of 15) and 2 novels (out of 5). Even though I didn't read anything in Portuguese or Spanish, I did manage to read 1 entire book in Italian. Besides, I translated another 2 and added 2 books that had not been on the list (I couldn't just stop at "Hunger Games" and had to finish the trilogy before the movie came out,) for a total 25 read in 2012.
Now, here's my To Read List for 2013, with the left over from the previous year and some great additions:

Well, these are the 40 books I'd like to read in 2013. Once again, it's a very ambitious list, but at least it gives me some sort of direction. I'll get started with "Found in Translation" and then enjoy some Italian reading with "Il giorno in piu," a gift from my friend and colleague Laura Tenorini. Then I'll tackle some James Joyce :-)
