Agustín García Calvo (1926 - 2012) The writer, philosopher, and translator from Spain died at 85. Most notably, he translated classics from Greek, including Homer, Plato, Socrates, Aristophanes, and Sophocles, as well as Shakespeare and Marquis de Sade. Jahed Jahanshahi

Jahed Jahanshahi (1946-2012) The Iranian translator of German literature died of cardiac failure at 66. He translated "Peeling the Onion" [Beim Hauten der Zwiebel], the autobiography by Nobel Prize-winner Günter Grass, as well as "The Mother" [Die Mutter] by Bertolt Brecht. He had also translated Portuguese poet and writer Fernando Pessoa and Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
